The story of the Ancient Olive Soap brand starts with a tradition dating as far back as 2400 B.C. Harvested, boiled, mixed and pressed by hand, then cured for up to 9 months, the process pure olive oil soap goes through epitomizes the term "hand crafted" and very little has changed in the way its made even to this day.
The task Ancient Olive Soap and I faced with their club store debut was to not only pay homage to the age old tradition of handcrafted olive oil soap and visually express the artisan craftsmanship that goes into each bar but to also create a strong retail presence. To accomplish these tasks we drew inspiration from another point in history, the beginnings of packaging graphics, and employed some modern tried and true tactics for club store recognition. The illustration resembles hand carved woodblock or lithography prints while the limited 2 color printing on kraft material echoes a time when printing presses were far less sophisticated in the quality and range of printing they were capable of. Heavy use of green throughout the multipacks as well as the pallet display create large color blocks at retail making Ancient Olive Soap easily recognizable, even at a distance.
